Coversyl 8 is prescribed for the effective management of:
Not recommended in patients with bilateral renal artery stenosis.
Use with caution in patients with:
Pregnancy & Breastfeeding: Not advised unless clearly necessary; consult a healthcare professional.
Pediatric Use: Not recommended for individuals under 18 years of age.
Routine checks of kidney function, serum electrolytes (especially potassium), and blood pressure are essential during treatment.
Perindopril works by inhibiting the angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE), which normally narrows blood vessels. By blocking this enzyme, COVERSYL promotes vasodilation (widening of blood vessels), improving blood flow and reducing blood pressure, which ultimately lowers the workload on the heart.
Seek medical advice if any side effects persist or worsen.
Signs of overdose:
Profound hypotension, dizziness, fainting, and circulatory shock.
Action:
Seek immediate medical attention or visit the nearest hospital if an overdose is suspected.
Hypertension:
The recommended starting dose is Perindopril 4 mg once daily, preferably in the morning. If blood pressure remains uncontrolled, the dose may be increased to 8 mg once daily after at least 1 month, based on clinical response and tolerance. Administer before meals.
Stable Coronary Artery Disease:
Begin with 4 mg once daily for 2 weeks, then titrate to 8 mg once daily if well tolerated and renal function is adequate.
In elderly patients, start with 2 mg once daily for 1 week, followed by 4 mg for another week, then increase to 8 mg only if the previous dose was well tolerated.
Congestive Heart Failure:
Initiate with 2 mg once daily, preferably under close medical supervision. If necessary, increase to 4 mg daily depending on clinical response.
Elderly Patients:
Start with lower doses (4 mg or less) and adjust gradually. Limited experience exists with doses above 8 mg in older populations.
